Problem Visits
Home > Care with Bloom > Problem Visits
We understand that parents sometimes want to check in with a doctor, even if their child isn’t sick. That’s why we refer to these as Problem Visits instead of Sick Visits. Most visits will happen in the office, but Telemedicine visits are an option for some concerns.

* What’s That Number? You’ll see a 5-digit number with the visit descriptions. These are the numbers a medical office will use to bill an insurance company. You can use these numbers to check your coverage.
Simple Problem Visits
15 Minutes Scheduled
99213
$125
This is the bill you will receive for a condition that is not considered complicated. That doesn’t mean your concerns are not important. In general, this is the bill for a problem that can be treated with over-the-counter medications. This is sometimes the case for constipation, dry skin, and acne. This is also the bill you would receive if your child has a chronic condition that needs prescription medicines, but the medications don’t need to be changed. Some examples might be asthma, depression, or ADHD. If a visit lasts longer than 20 minutes (including some of the time your provider spends outside of the exam room), your bill will be changed to a Complicated Problem Visit.
Complicated Problem Visits
30 Minutes Scheduled
99214
$175
This is the bill for more complicated or longer visits. You will receive this bill for any visit lasting more than 20 minutes (including some of the time your provider spends outside of the exam room). You’ll get this bill for a problem that can’t be diagnosed without labs or images, or a problem that won’t go away without a prescription medicine. You’ll get if your child has a chronic condition, like asthma or ADHD, and we are changing prescription meds to best meet your child’s needs.
Telemedicine
15 Minutes Scheduled
99213 or 99214*
$125 or $175
Some conditions can be managed with video visits. These visits require specific consent (or permissions) from parents, and children have to be present. But they also allow multiple caregivers to participate in the meeting, without requiring everyone to leave work and come to the office. Kids must be present at some point in the video visit, but for some sensitive conversations - like behavior or development - kids can leave to play with toys in the safety of their home while parents continue important discussions with the provider.
Quick Follow Up Visit
15 Minutes Scheduled
99212*
$100
This visit type is not common. This is the bill you would receive if you have been asked to follow up a medical problem, like coming back to the office to be sure an ear infection is gone. This will only be used for checking on a problem the provider has already seen and dealt with.
Nurse Visits

$25 plus costs of procedures or vaccines

Additional Procedures
We offer many office procedures, which will be billed in addition to a visit code. You view our list of additional in-office procedures.
Specialist Referrals
If parents desire to see a specialist, we encourage you to discuss your concerns with your pediatrician first.
If your insurance requires a referral, or if the specialist you want to see requires a referral, we will help.
After Hours/Weekend Care
If you believe your child needs to be seen before the next business day, we recommend your child be seen at a pediatric urgent care (like PM Pediatrics) or a pediatric emergency room (like WakeMed Pediatric Emergency Department).
However, we also understand that these offices are a long way from the Bloom office, and likely a long way for patients and families. If parents are uncomfortable with the distance, but feel their child should be seen before the next business day, we suggest care at an urgent care or emergency department that is not staffed by pediatric providers.
Non-urgent questions regarding your child’s care should be sent through the EHR portal - medication refill, or tips for getting a kid to take a medicine.
In a few situations, a question needs to be answered immediately. In that situation, contact Dr Beavers by phone directly by calling the office or sending a text. If you don’t get an answer, please follow up!
Some simple visits may be scheduled for weekends, such as checking on newborns. These can only be initiated by the providers.
